The Studio Group

The Studio Group originated in 1935 as a small group of women painting together.  Members met weekly to paint, study art, and participate in classes and critiques.  Today, members continue to enjoy those activities and, in addition, seek to meet special art needs of the community.     Contributions have included gifts to the Delaware Art Museum and the University of Delaware and scholarships to young art students.  For many years, the Group has managed  the “Picture of the Week” exhibit in the Hotel DuPont lobby which features an area artist.  Now one of the oldest continuous painting groups in the United States, the Studio Group celebrates its 75th anniversary in 2010.    A non-profit organization, the Studio Group is dedicated to ensuring the future of the Howard Pyle Studio as a resource for artists and the community.
